Android Guide to using CVAS

Please review the steps below that explain how to use CVAS.

Step 1 - Login

To log in for first time, double tap on the CVAS icon on your mobile phone screen, the app will open and you will hear “Username edit box CVAS”. CVAS will already be in the first input field at the top of the log in screen. Double tap, the keyboard will open. Enter your user name.

Then, locate the Next button at the bottom right hand side of the keyboard. Double tap it and you will hear “Editing Password Edit box”.

Enter your password. Locate the Done button at the bottom right side of the keyboard. Double tap there, the keyboard will close and you will hear “Edit box password”.

Swipe once to the right to the Show Button. Double tap there, swipe left and you will hear your “password stated with the words Password edit box”. Swipe right and double tap to hide your password.

Swipe right to Login button and then double tap. You will then be taken to the Welcome screen and you will hear “Search edit box CVAS double tap and hold to long press”.

After you have logged in for the first time, thereafter, you log in by double tapping on the CVAS icon on your phone and you will be taken directly to the Welcome screen.

Below is a description of the other important items contained on the Welcome screen:

  1. Swipe right until you hear “Welcome, your user name and My Contacts”.
  2. Swipe right and you will hear “Favourites”, which will already have included the contacts from you mobile phone.
  3. Swipe right until you hear History button, which will contain a history of the calls you make.
  4. Swipe right to get to the dial pad button, you dial numbers on the dial pad to make a call.
  5. Swipe right to Contacts, you can access your contact list here.
  6. Swipe right to get to Chat, which will contain all the CVAS text messages you receive.
  7. And finally, swipe right and you will hear “Settings”. This button opens up a dropdown menu, which contains the following options, “Settings and Support”.

Step 2 - Making a Call

Having logged in, to make a call, select Dial pad on the screen by swiping right or left and then double tapping. The dial pad is the usual dial pad you are accustomed to on your Android phone. Dial 0, then swipe right to the video call button and double tap there to make a video call so that the agent will see and be able to assist you. Note, if you swipe right again you will go to the audio call button, which is for audio only and should not be selected.

Step 3 - Speaking with an agent

Once you call using CVAS, you will be connected to an agent. Simply tell the agent about the assistance you need and they will provide it by using the camera on your mobile device.

By default, when you initiate the call, the front camera of the phone will be turned on. While the call is in progress, to change the camera view to the back camera so that the agents can assist you, swipe left or right until you get to “toggle call controls” and double tap. Swipe left until you get to “switch camera” and by double tapping there, you will switch to the back camera.

What if the agent tells you they can’t see well? Swipe left or right until you get to your phone's flashlight, then double tap to turn it on in order to help the agent see more clearly.

Remember, CVAS is dependent on the quality of the Internet service to you and the agent. This may have a direct impact on the service and can cause interruptions. Should that happen, please call back. If you do not reach the same agent, you can ask to be transferred to the agent you were interacting with.

Step 4 - Ending your call

To end your call, first swipe left or right until you hear “hang up call” and then double tap to do so.

Step 5 - Logging out of CVAS

Should you need to log out of CVAS, swipe until you get to “Settings” and then double tap to open the Settings menu. Then swipe left and you will hear “Settings” and double tap. Swipe right until you hear “logout” and then double tap. Then you will hear “Logout?”. Swipe right to the yes button and then double tap and you will be logged out.

A dialogue box will appear requesting confirmation you wish to log out. Swipe right to Yes and double tap to confirm you want to log out. You will be logged out of CVAS and returned to the Login screen for the CVAS Network.

Step 6 – If you forget your password

If you need a new password, send an email to cvas@ctu.int and ask for a temporary password to be provided to you.

Step 7 – If you want to change your password

Use the Change Password link that you will see on the Log in page of the CVAS app. Note you must know your old password to use this link.

Apple iOS Guide to using CVAS

Please review the steps below that explain how to use CVAS.

Step 1 - Login

To log in for the first time, double tap on the CVAS icon on your mobile phone screen, the app will open and you will hear CVAS Button. Swipe right and you will hear Provider dropdown button, double tap on that button and you will hear select provider. Swipe right to the CVAS button, double tap it and you will hear button.

Next, swipe right to the area where you will hear “Text field is editing, user name character mode, insertion point at start”. Double tap there to open the keyboard and type in your user name.

Then, locate the next button at the bottom right side of the keyboard. Double tap there to get to the password field, where you will hear “Secured text field, is editing password character mode, insertion point at start.” Type your password and then locate the Done button at the bottom right side of the keyboard. Double tap there and the keyboard will close.

Then you will hear the “number of characters and secured text field.” Double tap to edit. Swipe right once to the Show button and double tap there to show your password. Swipe back or left to the password area and you will hear the password you inserted in plain characters, followed by “Text field Double tap to edit”. If you need to correct or change the password, double tap there and the keyboard will open. Retype your password and then locate the Done button at the bottom right side of the keyboard. Double tap there the keyboard will close and you will hear “the number of characters and secured text field, double tap to edit”. Swipe right to the Hide button and double tap there to hide your password.

Swipe right to the log in button and double tap there to log in. You will then be taken to the Login screen and will hear “Add Contacts default”. Below is a description of the other important information contained on the login screen.

  1. Swipe right until you hear “Welcome and your user name”.
  2. Swipe right and you will hear My Contacts, which will already have the contacts from you mobile phone.
  3. Swipe right until you hear History button, which will contain a history of the calls you make. Swipe right to get to the dial pad button, you dial numbers on the dial pad to make a call.
  4. Swipe right to Contacts, you can access your contact list here.
  5. Swipe right to get to Chat, which will contain all the CVAS text messages you receive.
  6. Swipe right and you will hear Settings Button. This button has the options Settings and Support.

Step 2 - Making a Call

To make a call, select Dial pad on the screen by swiping right or left and then double tapping. The dial pad is the usual dial pad you are accustomed to on your iPhone. Dial 0, then swipe right to the Video call button and double tap there to contact an agent to assist you. To ensure the agent will see you, make sure you select the video call option on the lower, left hand side of the dial pad. Note, the right call button is for audio only and should not be selected.

Step 3 - Speaking with an agent

Once you make a call out with CVAS, you will be connected to an agent. Simply inform the agent about the assistance you need and they will provide it by using the camera on your mobile device.

To end your call, swipe left or right until you hear “Toggle call controls.” Double tap there, swipe right to the “End call button” or put your finger to the bottom middle of the phone’s screen and you would hear “end call button”. Double tap and the call will be ended.

Step 5 - Logging out of CVAS

Should you need to log out of CVAS, swipe right to the Settings button, then double tap there to activate a menu that lists the options in the following order – Settings and Support. Swipe left until you hear “Settings” and then double tap.

This will launch another menu and you will swipe right until you hear “Logout. Double tap there and a dialogue box will appear requesting confirmation you wish to log out. Swipe right to Yes and double tap to confirm. You will then be logged out of CVAS and returned to the CVAS Network Login screen.

Step 6 – If you forget your password

If you need a new password, send an email to cvas@ctu.int and ask for a temporary password to be provided to you.

Step 7 – If you want to change your password

Use the Change Password link that you will see on the Log in page of the CVAS app. Note you must know your old password to use this link.

Windows Guide to using CVAS
